The Sid Lewis 5 Level jamming System (329Kb)
The 5 Level System is the flagship of Jamming 101, and makes possible the "Multiple Skill Level Integration” (MSLI) that allows all ability levels to enjoy Jamming 101 workshops. Useful as a tool for players to find their place in a jam, or jam leaders to run a jam smoothly. All the Jamming 101 graphics here are excerpts from the Jamming 101 Coursebook, found on the products page of this site. Feel free to use and distribute (non-commerially) these graphics, as long as the whole graphic, credits and contact information is always left on. The graphics for The Five Levels, The Ten Jammandments, The Jamily Tree and Jamanatomy are the copyrighted property of Sid Lewis and Jamming 101.

Jamanatomy (483Kb)
Knowing what happens when is critical to good jamming. Every jam session has it's own "anatomy", and Sid Lewis's "Jamanatomy" will give the fledgling picker a birds eye view of what's going on.

The Jamily Tree (1028Kb)
The myriad of different styles out there is often bewildering to the beginning jammer, and the bets weapon against confusion and intimidation if knowledge of different kinds of music, and how to recognize them. Enter the Jamily Tree, Sid’s unique concept of all Jam’s being leaves on the tree of music, with the basic forms being near the roots, and advancing in complexity toward the top. Have fun climbing!

The Ten Jammandments (955Kb)
Culled from 30 + years of jamming experience, the Ten Jammandments are the secret to a positive jamming experience, as well as insuring an invite back to the jam! It is better to be a humble jammer who follows the Jammandments, then a hot picker who shuns them and makes few friends. This is one for the studio wall…

The Ten Jammandments - discussion (22Kb)
A handy print out of Sid' thoughts and sage interpretations of the 10 Jammandments. Remember to also print out the 10 Jammandments Graphic to help with understanding, and put this one on the fridge…A great discussion starter for new jams!

The Festival Waltz - by Sid Lewis 2008 (9Kb)
I wrote this song sitting under a tarp in the freezing rain at Spring Strawberry 2008, drinking whiskey and arguing with my band Crazygrass. It started out rather ribald, but I kind of like it now that I took all the bad words out! Feel free to learn it, share it, and pass it down through the generations; just please mention that it was written by Sid Lewis of Jamming 101! For an MP3 of me singing it (badly) click on "Tabs and MP3's/guitar" ..............enjoy, and I'll see y'all out pickin!

Tips for Jammers (40Kb)
As my brain reels (and jigs) from the constant stream of new jams, festivals and music lessons, I try frantically to get it all on paper. The following essays are part of my upcoming Edition II of the Jamming 101 Course-Book, so feel free to give me feed back as they are still in the molding phase. Enjoy and keep on pickin!
